Since March 2018 an authorization issued by the Xunta de Galicia is necessary to visit the Cíes Islands.
Obtaining this document, which is personal and non-transferable, is mandatory for
travellers who wish to visit the islands.
How to request the authorization to visit the Cíes Islands
The authorization is issued on a Xunta de Galicia platform and can be requested up to 55 days before your trip. This website is also accessible from mobile phones.
To request the authorization you have to fill in personal data fields such as name, surnames, identification document, gender and date of birth. The platform will send the authorization to the applicant by email and it can also be download from the website itself. It is important to note that once the authorization has been obtained, you will have a period of two hours to buy your ticket. Therefore, you’ll have enough time to choose your boat’s port of departure and the time that suits you best.
Campers don’t need to request the authorization as it is included in the Cíes Islands campsite booking. Therefore, if you are going to spend the night on the island, it is currently not necessary for you to carry out this process, but you must contact the campsite beforehand so they can book it for you, check availability, and provide you with a booking reference(s) that we will ask you for in order to acquire your ticket(s).
We remind you that you can embark with us from the ports of Vigo, Cangas and Baiona. Once you have booked your trip, you will be ready to embark on your adventure to paradise.
You must take into account the dates that are available to visit on the authorization platform itself to avoid making a mistake when purchasing your ticket on our website. Furthermore, you can only cancel your visit authorization up to 15 days before the date you have booked for, the Xunta’s website has an option for this.
The maximum number of places you can book when requesting your authorisation, as well as booking your ticket with us, is 10.
