Located in the Bay of Vigo and a part of the Galician Atlantic Islands National Park, the Cíes Islands archipelago is a true natural paradise. It is made up of Monteagudo, Faro and San Martiño islands and, according to the British newspaper The Guardian, it is home to the best beach in the world. In 2007, this prestigious newspaper described Rodas beach as a true “Caribbean beach.” As the newspaper said, “the water is turquoise enough, the sand white enough to believe the comparison…” Those who visit it will immediately understand why. With the aim to ensure its preservation and prevent it from deteriorating, the number of visitors allowed per day is restricted, so it is recommended to book the tickets in advance.
What to do?
If you love nature and outdoors life, this is the perfect place for you. During your tour, you will discover the varied and beautiful geography combining all types of trails, incredible cliffs, protected areas with a high ecological value… A thousand lovely images that you will never forget. The richness of this island can be seen, heard, smelled, touched and, especially, tasted. The delicious local cuisine is based on freshly-caught sea products, octopus undoubtedly being the most famous dish.
What to do?
Not very often is it possible to live the experience of turning the pages of a history book into reality, and this is one of them. Sail with Mar de Ons and learn first-hand the fascinating history of the Vigo Bay, witness of countless tales of corsairs, Templar monks, bloody battles, hidden treasures and travellers from faraway lands. Sail with us this sea full of history, interact with its protagonists and disembark at San Simón Island, a place beaming with tales and legends located in the Vigo Bay, which still irradiates magic because of the changes it went through.
