The most beautiful viewpoints in the Rias Baixas

To be able to enjoy a panoramic view of the landscapes you visit is a unique gift, especially if you are visiting one of the most beautiful places in Galicia: the Rias Baixas. For that reason, in this article, we want to tell you which are the most beautiful viewpoints in the area, so you can visit when you come on holiday.

 

1. Miradoiro da Rosa

The Miradoiro da Rosa is located in Vilagarcía. From this viewpoint, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the island of Cortegada and the estuary of the Ulla river. In addition, you can see Carril’s impressive clam farms, where they carry out shellfishing activities and from where you can get the best clams in the country.

 

2. Miradoiro de la Cruz de Lobeira

The Cruz de Lobeira viewpoint is situated at a height of 295 metres on monte Lobeira, in Vilanova de Arousa. This area contains an ancient fort and a castle that was made famous because, legend has it, Urraca of Zamora once lived in it. From this viewpoint, you can see the Arousa ria, the do Salnés valley and part of the do Barbanza mountain range.

3. Miradoiro de San Roque do Monte

The miradoiro de San Roque do Monte is located in Cambados and is one of the area’s best viewpoints. This viewpoint is situated on Mount San Roque, at an altitude of 353 metres, enabling you to see the Viveiro ria and the ports of Viveiro and Celeiro.

 

4. Miradoiro de A Pastora

The miradoiro de A Pastora can be found on the mountain of the same name, near to the cemetery of Cambados. From the viewpoint, you can see the entire town and the Arosa Ria. Next to the viewpoint is a recreational area where you can spend the day with family or friends.

 

5. Miradoiro da Siradella

The viewpoint of Siradella is situated at an altitude of 165 metres, at the highest point of O Grove. This is why it offers a great panoramic view of the area covering the Arousa ria, A Lanzada beach, the intertidal complex of Umia- O Grove and even the Cíes Islands and the Island of Ons. In this very area, there are several hiking routes that take you to some equally spectacular points.

If you come to O Grove, don’t miss out on the opportunity to visit the Island of Ons or the Cíes Islands from the ports of Sanxenxo and Portonovo.

6. Miradoiro Con da Hedra

The miradoiro Con da Hedra is situated in O Grove, in fact, it is the second highest point after A Siradella. From the viewpoint, there are some spectacular views of the Cíes Islands, the Island of Ons and Sálvora. In addition, you will be able to see some of the area’s best-known beaches such as the A Lanzada beach.

7. Banco panorámico A Lanzada

 

The banco panorámico de A Lanzada (panoramic bench) is situated in the parish of Noalla, in the Rias Baixas town of Sanxenxo. This viewpoint gives you a panoramic view of the spectacular beach of A Lanzada and its natural surroundings.

8. Miradoiro Punta Vicaño

Miradoiro Punta Vicaño is situated between the beaches of Silgar and Portonovo, in a rocky area from which you can enjoy a stunning view of these beaches and the Rias Baixas town of Sanxenxo,

 

9. Miradoiro da Granxa

The famous miradoiro da Granxa is situated near to Sanxenxo. It is a large balcony in the shape of a scallop shell which offers a spectacular panoramic view of the Pontevedra ria, in Rias Baixas.

 

10. Miradoiro de Samieira

The miradoiro de Samieira is situated in the parish of Poio, in Pontevedra, at an altitude of 250 metres. From it, you can marvel at a privileged view of the two banks of the Pontevedra ria. There you will be able to see the Island of Tambo and the coastal towns of Bueu, Marín and Pontevedra.

If you are in the viscinity of Bueu or Pontevedra, you can visit the Island of Ons from these ports.

 

11. Miradoiro de Cedeira

The Cedeira viewpoint, also known as the viewpoint of Campo da Rata, is situated at an altitude of 250 metres in the area of Redondela. From the viewpoint, you will be able to see the imposing Vigo ria and its spectacular Rande bridge. In this area, there is a wooden bench with an inscription that says: “Galiza. It’s different”. This bench is considered the best bench in the world and many visitors come each year to take a photo from there. 

You will also be able to see the Island of San Simón in the heart of the Vigo Ria. This island is classified as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC). 

 

12. Miradoiro de San Cibrán

The viewpoint of San Cibrán is situated at an altitude of 200 metres in the area of Meaño. This viewpoint offers an almost 360º panoramic view of Valle do Salnés. From there, you will be able to see the Arousa ria and all of its coastal towns, vineyards and streams. The stone balustrade on which the viewpoint sits, features a crucifix made by a local sculptor from Salnés, Francisco Pazos Nearby, there is also a small hermitage built on the acropolis of an ancient fort.

 

13. Miradoiro Alto do Xiabre

The Xiabre viewpoint is situated at a height of 641 metres, on the Xiabre mountain. This viewpoint has a privileged view of the Arousa ria and the area of Vilagarcia. In addition, next to the viewpoint there is a recreational area with tables where you can rest or enjoy a picnic.

 

14. Miradoiro Cabo Home

The Caracola de Cabo Home viewpoint is situated on the cliffs of Donón, at the edge of the Morrazo peninsular, very near to Cangas. From there, you will be able to enjoy views of the Vigo ria, the Island of Ons and the Cíes Islands. Additionally, at this point, you will be able to enjoy the most beautiful sunsets in Galicia. Many people come to this area to take photos when night falls at the metal snail which looks out to the sea.

15. Miradoiro A Guia

The Guia viewpoints is situated on the Guia mountain, in the neighbourhood of Teis, in Vigo. From the top you will be able to see the best panoramic views of the city and the Vigo ria.

 

16. Miradoiros Chan de Arquiña

Before reaching the Monte Faro viewpoints, in the recreational area of Chan de Arquiña, you can find two viewpoints that are worth a visit: Candón Grande and Candón Pequeno viewpoints. From there, you can see the Pontevedra ria, the Cíes Islands, the Island of Ons and part of the Soutomaoior castle, as well as some of its interior.

 

17. Miradoiro de Monte Faro

The Monte Faro viewpoint is situated in Domaio, on the Morrazo peninsular, at an altitude of 627 metres. This viewpoint is characterised for having rotating hands, where visitors can sit and have their photo taken. These two wooden sculptures have been made by a local artist, Yosi Fervenza. From there, you have an impressive panoramic view of the Vigo ria, the Cíes Islands and capes Home and Silleiro.

18. Miradoiro Islas Cíes

The Alto do Príncipe viewpoint, on the Islas Cíes, is one of the most beautiful in all of Galicia. From there, you will be able to enjoy a truly extraordinary landscape. There is nothing better than hiking along the island’s hiking trails until you reach it and enjoying the National Park from a privileged point of the island.  

The Alto do Principe Trail enables you to enjoy a fantastic view of Rodas Beach and surrounds the Dune Complex of Figuerias – Muxieiro, in Rias Baixas, where you can see a representation of the species belonging to these fragile ecosystems.
